Work

One of my favorite things to do is just to open a blank Unity project and just start doing things. Sometimes this leads to cool things, other times it just fills up my Github. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Other than that I also make little apps and things that might or might not help me in my daily life. This page showcases some of my more refined ideas and projects.

Wondering when the next room at the university is available?

The idea was conceptualized because of the University of Bergen’s current room overview was severely outdated and the UX of the web app was not in a good state. Therefore, me and a co-student took it on ourselves to create a better experience. The result was an Android application that stored and presented the university’s rooms and locations in a simpler and more intuitive manner.

The application grew and was much used by the university’s IT technicians at the IT department in their work routine.

Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen) VR Concept

Virtual Reality
Unity
Blender

Ever wanted to experience Pulpit Rock without the climbing?

Small proof of concept VR app where you can fly around Lysefjorden and see Preikestolen with a hot air balloon. The purpose of this VR concept was to explore how open terrain data could be used to visualize vast areas, and in return, make it explorable and interactive in VR.

The map is based on a heightmap of a 3D modeled terrain imported into Blender using terrain data from OSM (OpenStreetMap). In Blender, the terrain 3D model was applied a custom black and white depth shader, that allowed for easier adjustment of the relatives heights in terrain.

As of now the concept isn't available for testing, but that might change soon.

A VR experience for the Oculus Quest.

A virtual piano for you to play on! All you have to do is start hammering on the keys!

This is still a WIP-project, so there are still things to be worked on.

The experience allows you to align a virtual piano to a table for tactile feedback and start playing!

Bergen Electrical Tramway (WIP title)

Desktop
Unity
Blender

Experience the old tramways of Bergen, like in the old days.

A pet indie game project that I’ve been working on for some time.

The game will allow you to control and administrate the tramway network in Bergen, where you have to transport passengers across the city and make sure that the tramway company has enough money to survive each decade. It goes without saying that it's a huge project and probably gonna take some time.

The game will feature a replica of Bergen and its tramways in 1925-1945, with landmark and signal buildings fully modeled.

Recreation of places and memory keeping

I’ve always wanted to revisit places that I had been to or had a special connection to as a child, so in this VR experience, I recreated my childhood home in 3D as an experiment of how VR can be used for “memory keeping” and it also gives a sense of how VR can be used in displaying houses and architecture.

This project really put my modelling and 3D developing skills to the test. In order to run the VR app smoothly natively on an Oculus Quest, the 3d model of the house and its environment has to be simple, yet realistic enough. This requires techniques such texture atlasing and a “cost and effect” in terms of performance of each decision in adding more elements to the app.

This is an ongoing project and is still WIP.
